Our History, Playa De La Paz

HISTORY

The Magic of Baja California Sur

The magic of Baja California Sur — especially the La Paz peninsula — has captivated travelers from around the world for decades. Its fame grew even more after Jacques Cousteau famously described the Sea of Cortéz as “the world’s aquarium” in the mid-1950s, thanks to its extraordinary marine life and breathtaking natural beauty.

A Discovery That Changed Everything

In 2005, Jeffrey Curtiss traveled from Cap D’Antibes, France, to La Paz to visit his son James, who had moved there years earlier and founded the Cortez Club dive school. Curious about why James never wanted to return home, Jeffrey arrived expecting a short visit — but instead discovered a destination unlike any other.

history

Falling in Love with La Paz

Jeffrey was completely mesmerized by the turquoise waters, stunning sunsets, white sand beaches, and the warmth of the local people. The beauty of La Paz made an immediate impact on him, helping him finally understand why his son chose to stay. What began as a visit soon became something much more meaningful: Jeffrey fell in love with Baja California Sur and decided to make it his home too.

Our Vision

The developer’s vision was to create a destination worthy of the extraordinary beauty surrounding the Sea of Cortez. Every detail was imagined to blend harmoniously with the natural landscape, honoring the unique essence and tranquility of Baja California Sur.

Timeless Architecture & Craftsmanship

Inspired by timeless and classic architecture, the project was designed to feel as though it had always belonged there — seamlessly integrated into the topography and built to endure for generations. Quality, distinction, and artisan craftsmanship became the foundation of every space, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and deeply authentic.

A Place to Heal & Belong

More than just a destination, the vision was to create a sanctuary for those who value personalized service, beautiful weather, and a genuine indoor-outdoor lifestyle. A place where nature and comfort coexist effortlessly, inviting guests to slow down, reconnect, and feel at home.

The Beauty of Playa El Caimancito

The first glimpse of Playa El Caimancito feels almost untouched by time. Its pristine white sand and calm turquoise waters remain much as they were centuries ago, evoking the wonder early explorers must have experienced upon arrival. Far from crowded beaches, this hidden paradise offers a rare sense of serenity — as if your footsteps were the very first to touch the shore.
